How to install wnSSOClient
Problem: Installation of the wnSSOClient for single sign-on (SSO) for RDS apps or for Live Edit integration.
Cause: To perform the SSO on the RDS server or Live Edit feature, we require an agent be present on the RDS server. You'll also need to edit allowHosts file on Unified Workspace servers so agent on RDS servers is allowed to get instructions from Unified Workspace server. For full features of wnSSOClient agent, please check documentation.
Prerequisite(s):
- Remote Desktop Services for Windows 2008/2012
- Unified Workspace 6.3.0.232 or above
Solution(s): The agent needs to be placed on RDS server and the allowhosts file needs to be modified.
wnSSOClient installation Windows 2008/2012:
- Browse to \stoneware\agents\ClientSideSSOForWindows on Unified Workspace server
- Copy ClientSideSSOForWindows.zip to RDS server
- Create a new directory C:\util\wnssoclient
- Extract files from zip into C:\util\wnssoclient directory
(end result should be 2 files, wnSSOClient6.exe and swSSOLibrary.dll, in wnssoclient folder) - Repeat steps for any additional RDS servers
Allow wnSSOClient to run remotely Windows 2008:
- Go to RemoteApp Manager under Administrative Tools
- Add wnSSOClient6.exe to the allowed list of programs to run (must browse to find)
- Go to properties and allow to run with any command-line arguments (accept security warning)
- Repeat steps for additional RDS servers
Allow wnSSOClient to run remotely Windows 2012:
- Go to Server Manager
- Select Remote Desktop Services from left pane
- Select the Session Collection
- Select the "Publish RemoteApp programs to this collection" or select "Publish RemoteApp programs" from the TASKS dropdown menu
- Go through wizard and browse and add wnSSOClient6.exe
- Go to parameters and make sure to allow any command-line arguments
- Repeats steps for additional RDS servers
Edit allowHosts file
- Go to Unified Workspace server
- Go to \stoneware\config directory
- Open the allowHosts file with Notepad
- Add a new entry at bottom (make sure there is no # sign in front of entry)
- Enter IP of RDS server
- Enter DNS of RDS server (on a separate line)
- Repeat for any additional RDS servers
- Save file
- Verify it does not have .sample file extension - (if it does, simply remove file extension)
- Copy allowHosts file to all other Unified Workspace servers
