            Directory Services Unable to Connect to Directory after update to


            Customer upgraded Unified Workspace to  Now when starting UW, Directory Services is unable to make a connection to the directory.

            After further testing, it appeared that having the IP address instead of the DNS name in the Directory Services (8090 console) was causing the issue.  After switching to DNS, it connected fine.

            We found that the _172 to _181 JRE update in is the root cause of the issue:


            To correct the issue

            Add the following parameter to the webNetwork.lax file:
            1. Edit \stoneware\bin\webnetwork.lax using a text editor.
            2. Find the lax.nl.java.option.additional=  line.
            3. Append -Dcom.sun.jndi.ldap.object.disableEndpointIdentification=true to the end of the line.
            4. Save the file.
            5. Stop/Start the webNetwork service.

            Or, you can change the IP used for Directory Services (8090 console) to a DNS name that resolves to that IP.
