webPass IE will not trigger SSO
Symptom:
The webPass IE browser extension will not trigger SSO for working webPass tiles. The other browsers with extensions, Chrome and Firefox, will trigger the SSO.
Issue:
The webPass IE browser extension is not triggering the SSO, do to the cloud's domain being listed in the Local Intranet Zone's site list (having been added by the System Check).
Resolution:
It appears something is getting broken in IE itself in relation to the Local intranet zone, and the portal domain being added. Possibly due to having tried older releases of webPass IE. webPass IE is properly attempting the SSO process, however, the browser is not accepting the data from the webPass IE extension when the cloud's domain is listed in the Local intranet zone's sites list. The following process should force IE into accepting data from the webPass IE extension when the cloud's domain is listed in the Local intranet zones site list:
- Launch the Internet Options control panel, in Windows.
- Select the Security tab.
- Select the Local intranet zone.
- Click the Sites button.
- Click the Advanced button.
- Remove the cloud's domain from the Websites list.
- Click Close.
- Click OK.
- Launch IE.
- Authenticate to UW.
- Launch a webPass tile, and verify that it now triggers the SSO.
- Leaving IE running, go back to the Intranet Options control panel.
- Select the Security tab.
- Select the Local intranet zone.
- Click the Sites button.
- Click the Advanced button.
- Add the cloud's domain to the Websites list.
- Click Close.
- Click OK.
- Go back to IE and launch the same webPass tile again. You will most likely get an error about the browser needing to support cookies.
- Close IE.
- Launch IE.
- Authenticate to UW.
- Launch the same webPass tile again. The SSO should now trigger, with the portal domain still listed in the Local intranet zone's site list.
If this process does not result in the desired results, the only option is to remove the portal domain from the Local intranet zone's site list.
