Manually update a custom profile

Manually update a custom profile

When updating a profile via the Upgrade Center, the following error occurs:

An Error Occurred: Please contact support.

At this point, it will be necessary to manually update the profile folder on the Relay Central "master" server.

On the Relay Central server:
  1. Browse to c:\stoneware\webserv-sec, or /usr/stoneware/webserv-sec if using Linux.
  2. Find the profile folder for your custom profile.
  3. Make a backup copy of the custom profile folder.
  4. Find the base profile folder, for example, the foldername for the base SecureCloudAccess-Profile is SecureCloudAccessProfile.
  5. Copy the entire contents of the base profile folder into the folder for your custom profile, letting it overwrite all files and folders in the custom profile folder.

Once the Relay Central Crawler runs on the rest of your relays, these changes will be copied to them.

This process will replace all the custom profile's core files with the updated versions of the base profile.  All customizations should remain, as they will be in files that do not exist in the base profile folder* and therefore will not be overwritten.

*If any customizations were to have been made to the base profile after the custom profile was created, it's possible those customizations will be copied to the custom profile, overwriting the custom profile's customizations.  This is why we want to first make the backup copy of the custom profile folder, so that its contents may be put back if necessary.
