File downloads being blocked as dangerous

File downloads being blocked as dangerous

Issue

webNetworkSlingshot.exe and/or webPass.exe installers are being blocked by Chrome and/or Firefox.

Chrome explicitly states there is an issue with downloading the file in the browser's Status Bar.

Firefox is not quite as explicit.  It subtly places a red dot next to the downloaded files button in the browser's Toolbar.

Cause and Workaround

This issue is being caused by Google updating their Safe Browsing database, which Chrome, Firefox, and Safari all use.  Several times in the past the webNetworkSlingshot.exe and webPass.exe files have been improperly flagged as being dangerous.  To get around the blocking, and allow the files to be properly downloaded, please see the following steps.

Chrome

1. Click on the Show All button on the far right of the browser's Status Bar.
2. Click the KEEP DANGEROUS FILE option.

3. Click the Keep anyway button.

Firefox

1. Right-click on the downloaded files button.

2. Click on the file in question.

3. Choose the Allow Download option.

4. Click Allow download on the verification pop-up.
