Configure Mail Service to use Gmail SMTP

Configure Mail Service to use Gmail SMTP

ISSUE

How to configure the Mail Service in Unified Workspace to use Google's SMTP server.

SOLUTION
  1. Open webAdmin Dashboard.
  2. Expand SystemConfig.
  3. Select the MailConfig object.
  4. Configure the Properties tab as follows:
  1. Mail Service: Enable - checked
  2. SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com
  3. Requires TLS: Enable - checked (this will enable Implicit TLS and use port 465)
  4. SMTP Account: <valid Gmail address>
  5. SMTP Password: <password for Gmail address>
  6. Audit CC: Disable - checked (optional, but recommended so that the Audit Email Address does not receive a copy of every message sent from the system.)
  7. Audit Email Address: <valid email address> (optional, but recommended, as this address is used as the From address on all messages sent from the system.  When left blank, it defaults to no-reply@nodomain.com)
  8. Default 'To' Recipient:  <valid email address> (optional)

*If the Google account used for the SMTP Account is configured with 2-Step Verification, you will need to create an App Password inside of Google to use for the SMTP Password:

**If the Google account used for the SMTP Account is not configured with 2-Step Verification, you will need to allow "Less secure app access":
