Configure Directory Services for Redundancy

Configure Directory Services for Redundancy

Question

Is it possible to configure multiple directory servers for redundancy, in the event the configured directory sever goes down?

Solution

It is possible to configure UW to talk to multiple directory servers to provide redundancy.

This is done by listing the directory server addresses on the Host Address line in the 8090 Management Console separated by commas.

On each UW server that is configured to communicate with the directory:
  1. Browse to the 8090 Management Console.
  2. Select the Directory tab.
  3. Update the Host Address field with the directory server addresses, separated by a comma.
    Example: dc1.company.com,dc2.company.com
  4. Update the Global Catalog Address, if enabled, with the directory server addresses, separated by a comma.
Example: dc1.company.com,dc2.company.com (Make sure to list the servers in the same order as on the Host Address field.)
  5. Click the Save button.

To enable this new configuration, the webNetwork Service will need to be restarted on the server.
  1. Select the Status tab, inside of the 8090 Management Console.
  2. Click the Restart button.
